Followers Call for Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande attended an event in Singapore for the international debut of Wicked: For Good

Loyal fans of the pop star are urging that a person who breached a fence and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.

A widely shared footage depicts the Australian man shoving aside camera operators and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a promenade flanked by fans.

Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.

Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being taken in", though court documents indicated that he was due to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was formally accused.

Pattern of Event Invasions

This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney show in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.

"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.

"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user questioned.

Fans Express Concern Over the Star's Well-being

Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.

"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more response on Instagram.

Some supporters also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals called for social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.

Reaction and Event Details

In videos spreading on the internet, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by security.

Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.

Hundreds of fans had congregated in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.

The movie, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual adaptation of the acclaimed theatrical musical Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two contrasting sorceresses.

The production itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.

They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.

The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful movie of the previous year in the UK, and received a dozen award recognitions, earning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
