Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
