Cameron Norrie achieved the most notable victory of his professional journey by coming back from a lost first set to defeat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the early stage of the prestigious indoor tournament.

Although he had before defeated Alcaraz on two prior meetings, this victory signifies Norrie's maiden success over a sitting world number one.

"Bouncing back from health issues last year, I was defeated in the first round of qualies here. I just tried to enjoy my tennis in the closing months of the year. The British player, ranked No 31, also stopped Alcaraz's dominant run of nine straight final appearances and 17 consecutive premier event victories, which represented the finest stretch of outcomes in the Spaniard's early career.
