The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell featuring continental glory and ending the club's long wait for three decades, now holds roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and as an advisor for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

The club claimed the league title last season, but many fans who adore the manager would welcome the possibility of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he told the podcast host: “I said I will never coach any other side on English soil. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations must arise to draw him back to management, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats each week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad enjoying conversation, is pleasant. We won a lot of games so there was often a very good mood in the building. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that took the title last term. The team has suffered a string of losses in every contest post heavy investment, though he denied the idea that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences on Liverpool. Jota lost his life in a car crash with his brother recently.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for his teammates too. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Coping with it on a personal level is difficult. Impossible.”
