Cyclone the storm is forecast to strengthen into a uncommon Category 5 storm as it shifts towards the Caribbean island, delivering life-threatening rapid inundation and mudslides.

The cyclone, which registered wind speeds of up to 120 miles per hour as of 06:00 GMT, is now shifting toward the northwest in the Caribbean Sea and is anticipated to reach land by Tuesday, according to hurricane specialists.

Warnings of blackouts and structural damage have been released as this storm generates up to thirty inches of precipitation and storm surges as high as 4m above typical tides. "Take cover without delay," residents have been urged.

This hurricane is the thirteenth hurricane in this year's Atlantic hurricane season, which normally finishes in late autumn.

A category five cyclone is the strongest type, with winds of at least 157 miles per hour.

Inhabitants are being instructed to protect their properties with protective bags and plywood sheets, and to stock up on essentials.

Advisories are also in effect for areas in Haiti including the capital, Port au Prince, the Dominican Republic and eastern Cuba, where this storm is expected to bring analogous consequences by the middle portion of the coming week.

Rock slides currently triggered by the storm have already killed two in the country, according to the nation's Civil Protection agency.

The hurricane is predicted to pass over the island nation by midweek before moving through the Caribbean archipelago and entering the open ocean.
