President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president addressed journalists. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Community Response

Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid law enforcement in DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, stated to the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the government to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told the program that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
